At the moment of writing (July 8th, 2021), there seems to be an issue with the Elder Scrolls Online Forums. When loading the url https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/, the page only loads the background image. On the Forums, ZOS has confirmed that they are looking into the issue, which seems to be related to a JavaScript error on their side. Ironically, the temporary fix for this problem is shared on the Forums. However, since you cannot get access to the Forums on your desktop, you are unable to find this solution. Hence I made this blog post on how to solve this Forums problem (for Microsoft Edge).
First of all, this is a Microsoft Edge browser fix that uses a Microsoft Edge extensions. If you are using any other browser, this solution may not help. However, it is worth considering because extensions are also available in other browsers.
Using Google Chrome? Read the Google Chrome version of this fix. Using Mozilla Firefox? Read the Mozilla Firefox version of this fix.
The problem: You are unable to view the Forums. This is probably caused by JavaScript, which makes the Forums invisible. The page only loads the background image.
The fix: Step 1: Go to the Microsoft Store. Type the following address in the address bar of your MS Edge browser: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/Microsoft-Edge-Extensions-Home
Step 2: Search for "Custom Style Script".
Step 3: Click on the "Download" button. A pop-up will appear, click on "Add extension" to add the extension to your MS Edge browser. Disclaimer Adding extensions to your browser is at your own risk. I am not liable for any damage to the software, your hardware, or loss and risk of (personal) data as a consequence of adding add-ons to your browser.
Step 4: In the top right of your browser, click on the Custom Style Script icon.
Step 5: Click on "Open options page". A new tab will open.
Step 6a: Click on "III. Code" to expand the code section.
Step 6b: Enter the ESO Forums URL into the field under the "URL" header. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/
Step 7: Enter the CSS style code (see below) in the field under the Style (CSS) header.
Step 8: Click on the "+" (plus sign).
Section III. Table will automatically expand after you clicked the "+" (plus sign). Make sure that "Domain" and "Top" are ticked.
Step 9: You can close this tab, return to the ESO Forums page, and you should be able to see the Forums again (you may be required to refresh the page).
If this guide/fix solved the problem for you, let me know in the comments below.
